In our 2008 GelGems® Retailer Window Contest we challenged our retailers to envision the world in 50 years and create a window mosaic reflecting their thoughts. We received dozens of enthusiastic designs covering a variety of themes- from ‘green’ designs challenging us to reflect upon the way we live, to whimsical dreams of flying cars and space travel . After viewing them all, you chose these five mosaics as the cream of the crop. Then, over 400 votes from our GelManiac Club online poured in to choose Merci Boutique in Coon Rapids, MI as our Grand Prize Winner.

The Merci Boutique is a unique gift shop staffed mainly by volunteers and located inside Mercy Hospital, Coon Rapids, MN. With all of its profits put towards buying updated hospital equipment and providing nursing scholarships for the community, the Merci Boutique was thrilled to have the opportunity to attract the attention of the community by entering this year’s contest. Jane Hogie, retailer manager of the gift shop, states the following about their mosaic:
“After thinking about the theme we were initially at a loss as to what to design. Our original thought was to do something "green" to convey our hope for the world in 50 years. But when we opened the bag with so many Halloween GelGems® we suddenly got inspired to envision our world spinning round like a bright and cheery carousel.”
